Insurance PDF Print E-mail

Once you take on a nanny it is very important you both obtain the relevant insurance required to ensure they are covered to work in your household.

For the employer, check if your household insurance policy covers people working in your home. If not, most insurance companies will be able to add on an Employers Liability insurance to your policy. If your nanny will be using a family vehicle, you will also need to ensure your vehicle insurance covers the additional person.

We also recommend you stress to your nanny the importance of taking out 'Nanny insurance.' This covers the nanny if there is an accident with one of your children, or any other children in her care (for example if they are having a playdate) and the parents decide to sue.
